Aim & Scope

The African Journal of AIDS and HIV Research (AJAHR) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by KevinPage. It aims to be the journal of record for HIV and AIDS research rooted in African epidemiological, clinical and social realities.

We want work that clinicians, programme managers and policymakers across the continent can act on, from how treatment and prevention perform in real clinics to why people fall out of care and what works where resources are tight.

Scope

AJAHR publishes original research articles, review articles, case studies and short communications in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Antiretroviral therapy: outcomes, adherence and drug resistance
  • HIV prevention, including PrEP, PEP and prevention of vertical transmission
  • Testing strategies, diagnosis and linkage to care
  • Paediatric and adolescent HIV
  • Tuberculosis, hepatitis and other co-infections
  • HIV in key and vulnerable populations
  • Stigma, mental health and the social determinants of HIV outcomes
  • Epidemiology, surveillance and implementation science
  • Health systems, service delivery and HIV policy in Africa

Peer Review

Every submission goes through double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject. The usual time from submission to first editorial decision is 12–14 weeks. See the Peer Review Policy for details.

Originality

All manuscripts are screened for similarity with iThenticate before they go to reviewers, as set out in the Plagiarism Policy.

Open Access and Licensing

AJAHR is fully open access. Authors keep the copyright in their work, which is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Article Processing Charges

There is no Article Processing Charge. African Journal of AIDS and HIV Research charges authors nothing at any stage of submission, peer review or publication.
